PENANG, Nov 22 — Penang profited RM8.2 million when it converted 1.4 hectares of land for the PDC Heritage Hotel (PHH) joint-venture project from leasehold to freehold, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said amid swirling controversy over the Pakatan Rakyat government's land policy.
Lim said the revenue came from RM6.32 million for conversion to freehold and another RM1.89 million as additional premium to change conditions for the prime land at the heritage buffer zone. The chief minister yesterday declassified minutes of meetings by the state exco, state land committee and the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) over the piece of land.

quote,"On Oct 15, 2008, in a press statement, Lim promised that the state government would not follow the footstep of his predecessor in circumventing the National Land Code proviso that prohibits the conversion of foreshore land from leasehold to freehold status.
The sad truth is that the Chief Minister who once fought alleged land scams committed by the previous state government is now personally involved in a questionable land conversion. This is a treacherous betrayal of the people by Lim.
Lim hoped by releasing the minutes on the land conversion, he can divert the attention of the people on the questionable land conversion. As usual he took the opportunity to blame Koh Tsu Koon for the land conversion. If Lim sincerely believes that what Koh did was wrong, he should not go ahead with the land conversion." unquote.
First the Kampong Buah Pala and now this and soon will be the Tanjung To'kong. We will hear nothing else except the "tai chi movement". 'This is the type of government that penangites have had voted for. The Tai Chi government. Even the C.A.T. ran off for a better pasture. They are more flip flop than the flip flop himself. Let us now show them the door.
